The European Union appointed Viola von Cramon-Taubadel as a Head of mission to monitor Iraqi election.

The office of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, José Borrell, said: European monitoring mission is set to keep an eye on the election that will take olace in Iraq on Oct, 10th. He pointed out: sending this mission came in response to Independent High Electoral Commission Iraq invitation.

Borrell added: we appointed Viola von Cramon-Taubadel (from Germany) as a Head of mission. The Europeans believe that the Iraqi election represents a significant step towards establishing democracy in Iraq. The process must be fulfilled peacefully and to secure the safety of voters, candidates and civil society activists.
