The Office of Imam Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi in Holy City of Qum, Iran, issued a statement where he described the agony of Awamiya town in Qateef province, Saudi Arabia, its military besiege by the Saudi forces, closing its entrances with blocks and patrols, killings and arrests, as genocide.

Imam Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, in his statement, which was received by Annabaa news agency, expressed his deep sorrow for the events taking place in Awamiya town, in al-Qateef province.

The office added criticizing the international silence for the agony and the killings in Awamiya town, including the United Nations and human rights organization at a time where "the world is caring for the rights of the animals, plants and other relics".

His Grace expressed his strong concern on the methods used against the villages and towns by using heavy arms and mass destruction weapons.

He called for immediate and full stoppage of all atrocities and violent practices, as well as the return of the displaced people and compensate them, as well as other affected people.

The Saudi authorities sent great number of armed vehicles to besiege the town before storming it, as well as preventing health ambulances , medical teams and press from entering the town.

Many international media organs reported the killing and wounding a number of civilians in the town.
